Advancement of eGovernment Applications

Application research in the area of systems and data interoperability aims at improving the co-ordination of e-business and e-government applications. Both citizens and corporations are already well-versed in the use of Web-based information and communication services provided by public administration agencies. However, transaction services that enable fully-automatic business transactions between corporations and public administration agencies or public administration agencies and their subsidiary offices are less common.

The Research Studio Inter-Organisational Systems focuses on business process management and develops methods and tools aimed at the interorganizational integration of public administration agencies and corporations. Currently, the main market approaches facilitating such integrative efforts are service-oriented architectures and their implementation via web services.

Another important aspect of Studio Inter-Organisational Systems focuses on the methodical processing of market-relevant, internationally accepted business document standards (e.g. Universal Business Language 2.0) and their interactive integration into the tool environment, as well as the development of appropriate prototypes. By re-engineering existing document standards, Studio Inter-Organisational Systems contributes to facilitating the definition of new business interoperability interfaces, at the same time enabling platform-specific transformation of existing document descriptions.
