"As a Research Studio, iSPACE specializes in geo-referenced technologies which are utilized to support strategic decisions and operational planning. Geography becomes the basis for analysis, planning and simulation! The spatial approach is used as the key to intelligent linkage of diverse information.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing and image analysis merge with indicator development, scenario design and the simulation of cities, rural areas or entire regions. Main areas of application and unique selling propositions include the energy sector, spatial planning and location development, as well as security and risk management."
Studio Director Univ.Prof. Dr. Thomas Blaschke
iSPACE.onENERGY
...facilitates decision-making for corporations and organizations in the power industry via the spatial analysis of energy-related issues and their visualization with regard to efficient and sustainable operation. The foundation for research expertise and prototypal solutions lies in the adaptation of complex problems related to the energy industry based on a specifically geographic approach.
iSPACE.forPLANNING...specializes in the development and application of innovative spatial groundwork for the optimization of decision-making processes, in particular for spatial, location and traffic planning, as well as the infrastructure industry. The focus of creative application-oriented research lies on spatial indicators, decision-supporting systems, geographic assessment procedures and cartographic communication techniques.
iSPACE.onINFRASAFETY...the GMES activities of Research Studio iSPACE focus on three intermeshed areas of development: methods and technologies based on geographic information and aimed at supporting decision-making (decision support systems); networked service technologies for the provision of satellite- and aerial photographs, ground measurements, and spatial data infrastructures; visualization interfaces, OGC- and web service interfaces for ortho-product download services (user services of the GMES Space Component).
