As CEO of the Research Studios Austria, Peter A. Bruck manages seven research units bringing innovations from universities to market. He is the chief researcher and the main driving force for creative solutions and research excellence in key areas of the new communication and information technologies with topics ranging from smart agent technologies to geoinformatics, pervasive computing applications to smart technology enhanced learning. The RSA FG does applied R&D at seven locations working with Austrian universities and international partners and for customers in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and Central America, and the Arab region.

Professor Bruck is the honorary President of the ICNM-International Center for New Media, Salzburg, which selects and promotes best practice in ICT applications and multimedia contents nationally, on a European and global scale. Bruck directs as Chairman of the Board the European Academy of Digital Media-EADiM, Netherlands, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors the World Summit Award in e-content and mobile applications in the framework of the United Nations process of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). He is also president of the “Science Conference Austria“, the national platform of independent science & research institutes.

Bruck has successfully run a number of commercial companies in multimedia, interactive technologies and communication; he been member of the Board and Chief Content Officer of the market leading Telco Group in Austria. He has done innovation consulting for companies in Canada and the US, for the Commission of the European Union and businesses in Europe and the Arab Region. He initiated the Austrian State Prize for Multimedia and e-Business as well as EUROPRIX in Multimedia, the competition for the best European multimedia content. Academically, Bruck has directed international research programs and -projects in the field of communication sciences and founded internationally acclaimed institutions of research and higher education in the area of New Media, Information Economy, Creative Industries and e-Technologies. For his international research excellence, Bruck has received a number of awards, including the Cross of Merit in Science and the Arts from the Republic of Austria.

Born in Vienna in 1950, Bruck studied law, social sciences, and economics at the University of Vienna, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in sociology at the University of Iowa, USA. He was Graduate Studies and Humanities Fellow in communication at McGill University, Montreal; professor of journalism and mass communication at Carleton University, Ottawa; professor of communication sciences at the University of Salzburg where he continues as Hon. Professor of Information Economy and New Technologies. Bruck was also Director of the IENM - Institute for Information Economy and New Media, founder, GM and Scientific Director of Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft 1996-2001 (formerly Techno-Z FH Forschung- & Entwicklungsgesellschaft), as well as founding Academic Director of the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg 1995-1997 . From 2001 to 2002, Bruck run the Business Unit on interactive media of Jet2Web Internet Services GmbH of the Austrian Telekom Group. From 2003 to 2008, he was the GM of the Research Studios Austria at Austrian Research Centers GmbH Group.
