Evaluations for innovative situation assessment applications

From 2013 to 2016

Within the scope of this research work, scientific contributions to the design of innovative applications for the purpose of location evaluation of real estate were created in cooperation with the Salzburg company “terravistor” and other local companies. This includes the conception and design of meaningful indicator systems, a comparative evaluation of the data quality of Open Data and commercial providers as well as the determination of geostatistical dependencies between indicators and the price development in a region. This provides forecasts for the future demand for real estate. In addition, the integration of further, distributed data sets to create a more comprehensive database and the evaluation of the transferability of the approach to neighbouring countries, including data acquisition and harmonisation of an indicator system, were evaluated.

The project is supported by the province of Salzburg within the framework of the “Trans4Tec2” funding action, which aims to intensify the transfer of knowledge between Salzburg research institutions and Salzburg companies. The work has created a basis that gives interested companies access to the latest trends and scientific findings in the field of location evaluation using distributed (open) data. The company partner terravistor was able to take advantage of the scientific support in the development of a web-tool that prepares and visualizes location information for residential locations. The target group of the “location professional” is primarily real estate agents who can use this information as sales support for themselves or attach it to their exposés. Building owners and companies also benefit from transparent location information. RSA-iSPACE uses the knowledge gained for further research and applications in the national and international project context.
