General direction of the RSA FG

The Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft – RSA FG is a research organisation that has been acting as a link between Austrian universities and markets since 2003. Its goal is the rapid prototyping of innovative IT solutions coming from universities with regard to sales markets and customer benefits. Its focus is on digital intelligence and future technologies.

Currently, more than 50 researchers in Salzburg, Vienna and Linz are developing applications in the fields of geoinformatics, pervasive computing, smart agents and data science. They are organized in Research Studios: These are flexible, market-oriented teams of 5 to 20 researchers under the leadership of a renowned scientist from a university, but which conduct research and development independently of the university.

The RSA FG has for the first time applied the methods of rapid prototyping and modular-iterative reframing (MIR), which originate from production engineering, to the development of digital solutions.

It has founded new paradigms such as the Web of Needs or Social Microlearning. Start-ups such as KnowledgeFox or Terravistor emerged from it.
