Knowledge transfer from iSPACE to Croatia.
The Croatian port city of Zadar has established a green cadastre within the Interreg project “Urban Green Belts”, for which the Salzburg studio iSPACE has developed a set of tools and methods. Last week the working group met in Zadar with participants from the Agency for Regional Development Zadar and the City of Padua, with regional stakeholders such as representatives of the City of Zadar and environmental and nature conservation authorities and the researchers Günter Gruber and Johanna Schmitt from the RSA FG Studio iSPACE.
The green cadastre of Zadar enables an evaluation of green areas with regard to maintenance costs, equipment and accessibility. The indicators based on the cadastre are based on the Salzburg region.
“The aim is to create a basis for planning and to derive measures to increase the use and user satisfaction. Although the cities of Salzburg, Zadar and Padua differ, for example, in terms of building structure or traffic routing, transferable methods can be created”,
explains Johanna Schmitt. iSPACE researcher Günter Gruber adds
“I think it is valuable that we can raise awareness of open space quality in the European context and directly support cities in upgrading their green spaces. At the same time, it is an ideal opportunity to get to know such beautiful cities as Zadar from a special perspective”.
