Last week Thomas Prinz, Studio Manager of the RSA FG Research Studio iSPACE – Smart Settlement Systems, together with Victoria Achatz (Land Salzburg/SAGIS) gave a lecture on the topic “Analysis of structural and solar potentials with geographic information systems” at the symposium “Brennpunkt Alpines Bauen” at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg. The sixth specialist symposium for the construction industry took place on 2 October 2019 at the Urstein Campus of the University of Applied Sciences with around 300 participants.

The general topic of this year’s event was “Lowtech”. The Research and Transfer Centre “Alpine Construction”, a cooperation of FH Salzburg and RSA FG, designed the slot “Lebenswerte Nachverdichtung und Energiesysteme” with the following lectures:

  • “Prospects for photovoltaic integration”, Hubert Fechner, Chairman of the Austrian Photovoltaics Technology Platform
  • “Analysis of structural and solar potentials with geographical information systems”, Victoria Achatz, Land Salzburg/SAGIS; Thomas Prinz, Research Studio iSPACE of the RSA FG
  • “Importance, potential and difficulties of building integration of PV”, Dieter Moor, ertex solartechnik GmbH, Amstetten

The guiding question that the event sought to answer was: How can highly efficient buildings be constructed using simple but very durable and resource-saving regional structural components that meet the needs of the residents as far as possible?
