Successful launch event of the ULTIMOB personal mobility project

With more than 70 participants – including representatives of the city of Salzburg, mayors of the rural communities of Salzburg and other provinces, representatives of the Salzburg Transport Association and many other stakeholders – the big regional kick-off event for the lead project ULTIMOB took place last Thursday, 14 November 2019 at the Hotel Imlauer & Bräu in Salzburg. The Research Studio iSPACE – Smart Settlement Systems under the direction of Thomas Prinz is project partner of this new BMVIT lead project for personal mobility. Greater Salzburg is one of four pilot regions in Austria.

“Much is happening in Salzburg: The Salzburg Transport Association, the Research Studio iSPACE of the RSA FG and the State of Salzburg are significantly involved in this project: On January 1, 2020, the association will start a new era: The tariff system will be changed. The cooperation in the field of transport planning between city and state will also be improved. Commuter analyses and the studies based on them are the basis for a reorientation of public transport,” said Provincial Councillor Stefan Schnöll at the beginning of the kick-off event.

Regarding the concrete goals of ULTIMOB, Thomas Prinz explained: “A multimodal action plan with a focus on the first and last mile as well as a data laboratory in Pinzgau on tourist routes and interdependencies are planned in order to develop sound data and planning bases for the use of public transport for tourist routes. The aim is also to accompany an innovative and demand-oriented public transport micro-system in the pilot region Pinzgau”.
