Climate-fit is the buzzword that municipalities are using to create new solutions for the design of neighborhoods and settlements and to counter the climate crisis. In Carinthia, part of the iSPACE team provided insights and examples of how this can work.

RSA FG experts Ingrid Schardinger and Sabine Gadocha from the iSPACE studio presented innovative tools for sustainable energy and settlement systems at an event in Carinthia at the invitation of the Carinthian Chamber of Civil Engineers. At “Kärnten klimafit gestalten”, the focus was on spatial energy planning and resource-efficient neighborhood development, which can be used to innovatively counter the climate crisis. The sustainable (further) development of settlement structures is an important lever for reducing resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Sabine Gadocha presented the interactive simulation tool for the land management of municipalities and Ingrid Schardinger demonstrated her approaches using the practical example of the Salzburg Heat Atlas.

Modern urban and local development concepts have a holistic perspective: it is not the individual building that is considered, but the resource-saving, climate and energy-conscious interaction of a neighborhood’s range of uses and its residents.
