" I am interested in research that has an impact. The digital age leads to an almost unbelievable flood of data. We wish to make it manageable. The Studio Digital Memory Engineering aims to develop ‘memory rendering’ systems in such a manner that the information buried in multimedia data records can be transformed into usable knowledge. In doing so, we face up to one of the major challenges of modern information technology: consistently and constantly improving the interpretability and search for information."
Studio Director Univ.Prof.Dr. Wolfgang Klas
Methods and Technologies for the Development of Digital Memory Systems
Areas of application include digital libraries, cultural heritage and company-specific applications in the economy, particularly in the industry, trade and tourism sectors. The field of Multimedia Memory Technologies is closely related to multimedia applications, in particular heterogenous collections of texts, images, audio and video material.
Applications:- METIS, a cross-media middleware application for the administration of multimedia data
Further information is available on the METIS homepage - BRICKS, an international project aiming to make digital cultural content and services widely available
- EDM - Electronic Data Management, used in the waste management industry to create standardized registers for waste management systems, for example
- Ylvi - a semantic Wiki for professional knowledge management
At Studio DME, in-house project management and technical expertise are employed to offer high-level consulting for large-scale IT projects. The Studio provides support in all phases of complex projects, from the conceptual and planning phase, to requirement analysis and quality assurance.
