Elternschaft & Wissenschaft was founded as a professional network that brings together research, academic practice, and knowledge transfer with a focus on family development, healthy upbringing, and social responsibility.

It connects partners in academic and non-academic research—ranging from educational and developmental psychology to law, sensory technology research, and neuroscience—with the goal of fostering a culture of recognition rather than stigmatization for researchers who are also parents, and of translating scientific findings into practical guidance and societal value.

Founded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soheil Human, Director of the Sustainable Computing Lab at Vienna University of Economics and Business and an expert in human-centered digital transformation, as well as Prof. Matthias C. Kettemann, Head of the Institute for Theory and Future of Law at the University of Innsbruck, the Parenting & Science Network creates an interdisciplinary space in which the rights and needs of both children and parents are systematically examined from various academic perspectives and supported by evidence-based approaches.

As a research transfer organization and non-university research institute, Research Studios Austria FG supports this initiative. A key area of research at RSA FG focuses on human-centered solutions in which technology is not only scientifically validated and technically efficient, but is also deployed in an inclusive manner and with social responsibility. RSA FG shares the vision of the Parenting & Science Network to create work environments that take into account the needs of researchers as well as their children and families, and to provide stability and reliability where excellence, care, and family responsibilities are not at odds with one another.
