In the Austrian Construction Technology Association (ÖBV), the construction industry and research institutions work together to make Austria’s infrastructure fit for the future. Since this year, the RSA FG is now also a member of this network. A first joint project has already been implemented by the Research Studio SAT since 2020.

“Construction technology at the cutting edge” is the goal of the Austrian Construction Technology Association. 250 companies with an annual construction volume of over 40 billion euros are currently working under the umbrella of the ÖBV to build an innovative Austrian infrastructure. In the process, construction companies, product manufacturers and engineering firms are cooperating with technical colleges, universities and other research institutions. Since this year, RSA FG is also part of this network. The membership is intended to strengthen and promote the transfer of knowledge as well as the cooperation between research and application in the Austrian construction industry.

ÖBV Merkmalservice: Data management in construction

The Research Studio Smart Applications Technologies (SAT) of the RSA FG has already been working since April 2020 on the FFG project “BIM – interoperable feature service“, which is being implemented under the leadership of the ÖBV together with renowned partners from the construction industry.

BIM or “Building Information Modeling” is one of the essential future topics in the construction industry. All relevant building data will be digitally modeled, combined and recorded. The continuous use of these construction characteristics is to be ensured along the entire value chain of the construction industry – from the client to the planners, construction companies, and authorities involved. A web platform will enable the management and translation of various internal organizational data standards and thus optimize information management.

With a positive conclusion of the 1st research year and the approval of all partners of the consortium, the 2nd research year of the project with the ÖBV was recently approved. The Research Studio SAT of the RSA FG will take over the development of the feature service technology which will be tested by the partners in practice and subsequently integrated into their internal processes. Already now the Studio SAT could bridge the gap between applied research and the construction industry and together with the project partners take a big step towards BIM and “Corporate Communication”.
