Housing shortage Salzburg: Research Studio iSPACE / Projekt Zentrum Alpines Bauen holds stakeholder workshops for the expansion of living space

The Center for Alpine Construction, newly founded by FH Salzburg and Research Studio iSPACE 2018, organised a transfer and coordination workshop on 29 June 2020 with representatives from the city and province of Salzburg on the construction potential for residential developers.

In the course of the “Centre for Alpine Construction – Research Focus Simulation of Settlement Systems”, first post-compaction parameters for use in GIS models were developed and applied to test areas. A special focus is placed on potentials that are particularly suitable for the target group of residential developers, both on undeveloped or developed land and through overlapping uses.

In the stakeholder workshop “Construction Potential for Housing Developers”, the results achieved so far were discussed with selected participants with representatives from the City and Province of Salzburg and tested for their practical suitability.

Sabine Gadocha, researcher at the Research Studio iSPACE, accompanies the Center for Alpine Construction Project:

“In order to enable the sustainable transfer of research results into implementation, the involvement of the relevant stakeholders is a decisive factor, as this is the only way to ensure that their concrete needs and requirements are optimally taken into account in model development,” describes Sabine Gadocha.

Resource-saving and energy-saving interventions on existing buildings are shown as well as post-compaction solutions.
