Dr. Markus Biberacher shows advantages of “Online Mapping” for decision makers at EU conference in Italy.
There is no dispute that “energy” is one of the central issues for the future. The fact that the impending energy system transformation is a task for the future and for shaping it, which can only be solved with contributions from science and research, is also undisputed.
“Online Mapping” for decision-makers at EU conferenceThe conference on the “Cities on Power Project” on 7 November in Turin was also devoted to the topic of the large-scale social experiment “Restructuring the Energy System”. Dr. Markus Biberacher, key researcher at the RSA FG Studio iSPACE, gave a presentation on tools of applied geoinformatics. With “online mapping”, i.e. digital cartography, iSPACE has developed a method for representing the energy situation (emissions, efficiency increase, target achievement) that is in demand far beyond the borders of Austria. Biberacher explains why:
“Our method is perfectly suited to present interactive scenarios in the context of renewable energies and to build awareness. And thus provide the basis for decisions on strategies and investments.”
