The 3rd symposium “Focal Point Alpine Construction” takes place in Salzburg.

The construction industry will meet for the third time on Thursday 29 September at the specialist symposium Brennpunkt Alpines Bauen of the Alpine Construction Network at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. The first part of the symposium will focus on the controversial subject of standardisation. Manfred Heinlein, expert and head of the Building Damage Forum Tegernsee will ask the question (and provide answers) whether building damage occurs despite or precisely because of standards.

Guest of honour at this year’s symposium is the Austrian Federal Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, Andrä Rupprechter.

More than twenty experts from the fields of research, business, politics and administration await the audience in the four freely selectable thematic focuses:

  • High-tech / low-tech: Does a house need a lot of technology or are there materials and construction methods that make technology largely superfluous?
  • Refurbishment: How, how much and with what goals should refurbishment be carried out? From refurbishment as a product from the supermarket to the analysis of the energy-related core parameters in the step-by-step refurbishment.
  • Alpine building culture/architecture/tourism/wood: Wood as a regional building material in renovation and in modern (tourism) architecture.
  • Post-compaction/energy systems/buildings: Where is there potential for creating living space in existing towns and cities? How do components in buildings as well as buildings among themselves interact in such a way that an optimal result in terms of energy, noise development and comfort for the users is achieved?
